Yet another great night of good friends, incredible food & remarkable beer. Last night's Brewmaster's Dinner was a showcase of four different Saisons, also known as Farmhouse Ales (read the full story here), matched up with four summer-inspired small plates. These dinners continually impress and are something to look forward each month; last night was certainly no exception. Once again, many thanks to those of you who made it out, but for those that didn't here's what you missed:
Scallop ceviche with wonton crisps served with McCoy's first ever Farmhouse Ale. Brewer's specs & photo coming soon!
Green tea smoked duck breast with radish & broccoli sprouts paired with Brasserie Dupont Foret. 7.5% ABV.
De Proefbrouwerij's Saison Imperiale - a unique interpretation of the style being much darker, sweeter & spicier than others on the menu. 8.5% ABV.
Roasted rabbit sausage with butternut squash gratin & Saison Imperiale. Amazing.
Fresh summer berries & orange wedges with sabayon served with Boulevard's 2009 Saison-Brett - currently the second highest rated Saison in the world on BeerAdvocate & rated 99/100 on RateBeer. 8.5% ABV.
As always, the food pairings were perfect with the beers. Kudos to Keith and Tobias for the McCoy's Farmhouse Ale - absolutely delicious and would be wonderful with a wide variety of food. The chefs, Alex and Chad, outdid themselves once again. Hard to pick which course was the best - but oh man, that rabbit sausage was outrageous!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, the rabbit sausage was incredible. It's too bad the chefs didn't come out to take a bow, its always nice to recognize their talent.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment as well as supporting these dinners! Hopefully we'll see you again in a few weeks - if not sooner...
It was my first time at one of these dinners, and I had a great time. Of course I love saison!
