Now on tap for a limited time is another amped up version of our Ursa Major Russian imperial stout - this time its been aged in Jack Daniel's whiskey barrels with organic maple syrup from Vermont. The sweetness of the maple compliments the huge roast flavors of Ursa wonderfully resulting in a remarkably complex and delicious imperial stout. This is a very limited release and only available on cask at McCoy's.

Pics - Grand Teton Beer Dinner 1.22.12
Sunday night's Brewmaster Dinner featuring Idaho's Grand Teton Brewing Co. was another excellent showcase of food and beer pairings, and was a personal favorite of recent dinners. The beers were carefully matched with each dish allowing the characteristics of each to shine, while maintaining a unique interplay of balance and contrast. Thanks to those of you who made it out, but for those that didn't here's what you missed:
pan-fried sweetbreads with red chili flake honey paired with Pursuit of Hoppiness imperial red ale |
smoked tomato & fennel broth with basil goat cheese, house made cracker and Sweetgrass American pale ale |
red snapper with citrus butter pommes anna and roasted winter vegetables with Howling Wolf hefeweizen |
roasted sirloin with fried egg and spicy potatoes with Bitch Creek ESB |
chai-infused pana cotta with candied citrus zest and chocolate sauce with Wake Up Call imperial porter |
Tickets are on sale now for February's dinner: the second annual Grain vs. Grape Dinner featuring local sommelier Kathy Rohlfing - a food pairing battle of wine vs. beer. Last year's was a great learning experience and a whole lot of fun. Will beer take home the crown again this year? Find out at Beer Kitchen Sunday, February 11th. Stop by any of the Beer KC restaurants or call Beer Kitchen at 816.389.4180 to make your reservations; $60 per person or $100 per couple including tax and gratuity. Full menu and more info coming soon.

Now on Tap - Red Eyed Monster
Hold on to your BGBMs - we have a very small amount of Ursa Major that has been resting in Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey barrels for a few months along with some fresh vanilla beans and the same 'toddy' coffee blend made for us by the Broadway Roasting Co. The addition of coffee & vanilla, plus the oak & whiskey characteristics from barrel-aging, elevate this massively complex Russian imperial stout to a whole new level. Served on cask through the beer engine only at McCoy's.

Now on Tap - Calypso DPA
Now on tap is the latest batch of our single-hop double pale ale - this time brewed using only Calypso hops. Calypso is a brand new breed of hops known for its pleasant fruity flavors with notes of pear, tart apple and perhaps an earthy tea-like flavor. We tapped this on New Year's Day so this stuff is FRESH. Come try it but beware the 11% ABV!
Brewer's specs:
Malt: 85% 2-Row, 10% Vienna, 5% malted white wheat
Hops: Calypso, added at 10 different times from start to finish
Fermented 7 days with McCoy's house ale yeast
90+ IBU
11% ABV
