We're a little over a week away from Kansas City Craft Beer Week! The week will be book-ended by a couple of beer fests, with a number of great events in between.
On Saturday, June 7th at 5 pm, join us in kicking off KCCBW with the third annual Westport Beer Festival! We've partnered with Sporting Kansas City to bring more than 80 beers from 35 craft breweries and a chance to meet members of this year's Sporting Kansas City team. As an extra special bonus, this year's fest will be the unveiling of Boulevard's Sporting Kansas City Championship Ale! A saison brewed with a new German hop, the beer won't be hitting shelves until mid-June, but you'll have a chance to try it on the 7th. Go to http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/performanceSearch.jsp?performance_id=1813427 or straight to McCoy's for your ticket. $30 in advance/$35 at the door will get you a tasting glass, unlimited access to beers, and the chance to mingle with champions!
Wednesday, June 11th, Beer Kitchen will be hosting a tap takeover with Cambridge Brewing Co. and Boulevard. Will Meyers from Cambridge Brewing will be on hand, so you won't want to miss it!
We keep the events rolling on Friday the 13th, with Doug Odell from Odell Brewing stopping in at the Foundry with some of his delicious beers. A keg of Friek and a pin of cucumber St. Lupulin will both be tapped at 4 pm.
Finally, the inaugural Boulevardia Taps and Tastes will close out the week on Saturday, June 14th. McCoy's will be there with Blackberry Tart, Gose, and the ever crowd-pleasing Ginger Shandy.
Until next week, you can pass your time on the porch of either McCoy's or The Foundry. Grab a drink with your favorite four-legged friend - both of our patios were named among the best places to drink with your dog in Kansas City!

Dreaming of warm weather...
Can you believe there's only a little more than a week left in February? That means patio weather will soon be here!! We've been teased with it a few days already, but get ready for the best patio in town to reopen this spring at McCoy's. On cold days like today, it's important to keep warm thoughts with you.
Also with the spring comes St. Paddy's Day, college basketball tournaments, and Royals baseball! But before any of that happens, join us for Beads & Brews - celebrating Fat Tuesday at McCoy's and The Foundry. You've got just under two weeks to collect your beads, so get ready!

Get your cask on
It's starting to feel a little more like September, which means absolutely beautiful patio weather. And right now McCoy's has two cask beers that are perfect for sipping on their patio!
First up is the Chai Tea Brown ale. The always popular Hog Pound Brown with chai spices. Mmm. Kind of warming for nights that are getting cooler. Or, just delicious on days that are not 100 degrees (it'd probably be delicious on days that are 100 degrees too. From the comfort of air conditioning).
Then there's a Cherry Stout cask. McCoy's Oatmeal Stout primed with a kriek lambic. Oooooh so good. It's not overly sweet, only a hint of cherry. The combination works well, giving a smooth and tasty treat. Again, dang fine on an autumn-like night.
What are your plans for the weekend? Stop into McCoy's for one of the casks, or any of the other fine crafted beers on tap (fresh Pilsner and Lunch Box Pale Ale, too!).

Patio weather!
Even with a few clouds, the weather's still great for a beer and dinner on a patio! McCoy's and the Foundry have great spots for you in Westport. But if you'd rather sit indoors, Beer Kitchen now has Odell's St. Lupulin on tap. A mighty tasty Extra Pale Ale from Ft. Collins, CO, smooth and delicious, perfect for any weather.
Not that weather has kept beer drinkers from enjoying a good brew... Here's a photo gallery from Ink of the Summer Beer Festival from a couple weeks ago - http://inkkc.com/photos/westport-beer-fest-2013/. I think my shoes are still drying out from it, but dang, that was a fun time!
Enjoy the weekend, cheers!
